We think that competitive, continent-wide energy markets help Europe's energy customers:
- They create more choice and greater competition;
- they improve security of supply; and
- they make it easier and cheaper to decarbonise.
Our mission is to make Europe's energy markets work even more effectively.
We do that by:
- Working with policy makers at national, regional and European level to improve the way European gas, electricity, carbon and associated markets operate. We promote competition, openness and choice so markets benefit the overall economy, society, end consumers and our members.
- Applying our experience from the liberalisation of gas and power and carbon markets to the development of new markets – particularly for green gases, hydrogen and attribute certificates.
- Developing and maintaining standard wholesale contracts and standardising business processes, to increase the efficiency of energy markets.
