Energy Traders Europe response to Terna consultation on long-term electricity storage procurement (MACSE)

Terna consulted market participants on the updated proposal for the long-term electricity storage procurement mechanism (MACSE), expected to start with the 1st auction in 2025. In this consultation response, Energy Traders Europe reiterates concerns regarding the risks of the proposed mechanism as it could hinder the market-based deployment of electricity storage, alter the regular functioning of the wholesale electricity market, and prevent the free formation of prices.
