Getting The Sequencing Right: Making Bundled Capacity Work in CSEE - Slovakia

Slovakia14-07-2026Slovakia

The EU’s gas market rules, including Regulation (EU) 2024/1789, introduce mandatory bundled capacity products to strengthen cross-border trade and support more integrated, liquid and efficient energy markets. Energy Traders Europe supports this objective.

However, regulatory measures can only achieve their intended outcomes when the necessary market conditions are in place. In parts of Central and South Eastern Europe (CSEE), unresolved barriers to market participation and the practical use of bundled capacity risk limiting the benefits of these new arrangements.

Energy Traders Europe has therefore written to the regulatory authorities of Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova, calling for coordinated consideration of temporary exemptions from mandatory bundled capacity requirements at their interconnection points.
